Our Stories -- Good Samaritan Clinic, Inc. (Parkersburg, WV)
When 34-year-old Ann walked out of the clinic after her patient care visit, she carried a brown paper sack containing over $650 worth of life-saving medications she needed to control her chronic health problems. In addition to her monthly medications, Good Samaritan Clinic provided Ann with primary health care including laboratory testing needed to monitor her diabetes, high blood pressure and elevated cholesterol. Being uninsured and trying to get by on $600 a month while attending classes made Ann very grateful that Good Samaritan Clinc was there for her. Ann learned to control her blood pressure and blood sugar with help from Good Samaritan Clinic and now has completed her education and is employed full-time with health care benefits.

Facts
Uninsured people include children, young adults, middle-aged adults and people nearing or at retirement.

Smaller employers are less likely to offer health insurance to their employees because premiums are prohibitively expensive.
